Mathematics in Surprising and Not so Surprising Objects

In this morning's working group (June 4, 2017), there were many thoughtful discussions on using tools to develop mathematics. From tools that have been designed for the purpose of teaching such as cuisenaire rods, geometric shapes and graph paper, to less obvious but still valuable tools such as a television remote control, our fingers, and conversation.
